I was reading Barack Obamas tax plan if he gets elected. Do people realize that his proposal will be a mistake!! He wants to remove the cap from social security for people earning more then $250,000 a year. Second he wants to eliminate the "Bush tax cuts" which would raise the federal income tax rate to 39.6%. To put this in perspective the Yankees have a payroll of $208 million. The 24 players would be hit with a federal tax increase of about $22 million. The owners would owe another $7.5 million in federal taxes. What I am getting at is ticket prices would need to rise by $65 million so the owners and players could have the same after-tax income as before. This would be an increase of about $16 dollars per ticket. It is going to be an expensive nite at the ballpark.
Self-employed people the federal tax rate would increase about 39% for those earning over $250,000. It would also take the top marginal tax rate which is the federal and state taxes combined to over 57% on self-employment income. Think about this. What do you think businesses will do?
* They will raise prices to recoup all the extra cost.
* Businesses will entertain more carefully the option of moving out of country.
The employee will be paying a combined 53% in taxes. If you thought money was tight now just wait to Obama is in office. Does this sound like a way to help the economy? I don't think so!!!
I had a little help with this one from some newspapers and news programs.
Has anyone heard about the woman who is representing the detainees in Abu Gharaib. Her name is Susan Burke, As far as I'm Concerned not an American. The lawsuit says that U.S. defense contractors tortured some detainees while locked up. O and I almost forgot violated their rights. How about the rights of the people they blew up in a bomb or were planing to blow up. These people are terrorists all of the sudden they care about what is right and what is wrong. This is a joke!! We are in a war and these people are the enemy and as far as I am concerned should be killed. How come it seems to be OK to be-head someone but not to water torture people. I am done before I get overly fired up.

Wow Keith this blog really blew me away. I never knew how intelligent you really are. I have to say I'm impressed and I could use some lessons from you. I'm only interested in reading my new Jackie Collins book and keeping up with the new US & People magazines. Maybe I should broaden my reading material.
Oh yeh and by the way Brandon is sooo.... cute!
Wow, I am impressed. I always knew you had it in you!!!! You rock Keith
All that good living in the Boro has taught you well.
I think Brandon has his Pop Pa's good looks and personality.
The pool is almost filled and Emma want's to teach Brandon how to swim. Nanny has a slide being delivered next week so the kids can have fun.
Good thoughts on O-bum-a. You were a baby when Jimmy Carter was president, but you must have remembered how well he screwed-up the country when he was President. Ahh the memories of double digit inflation, double digit interest rates, the gas lines, being told to not put up christmas lights to save energy, the Iran hostage screw-ups. They were such good times for this country. And to think I voted for him because I thought we needed a change.
hey Keith,
GREAT BLOG!!! But first, let me just say how BEAUTIFUL Brandon is!!! I can't wait to see him again. The pictures are adorable.
Now the blog. You are so right on about everything. I wish we had more people with your thoughts here in Maine. We conservatives are a little in the minority. You know, the same thought about Obama's tax increase applies to the oil companies. He wants to tax the big, bad oil companies but guess who will actually be paying - us. So we'll not only be paying more at the ballpark, but at the gas pumps too.
Also, go to seanhannity.com and vote for drilling here and now! Don't you find it extremly embarassing that we have more oil here than in parts of the Middle East and yet we can't tap into it. Instead, we have to crawl and beg our enemies to lower their prices and produce more for us. What's up with that?
Hey Keith! Great blog... I'm not going to throw in my two cents because I hate politics. i get enough of it from Jared and my parents when they discuss Obama, oil, etc... I just sit back and let Jared and Mom duke it out and I don't get into it. Jared usually ends up laughing at all the trouble he's caused while Mom goes and cries in the bathroom... Good times.
I'm just joking about the last part. Mom only cried once, and that was like four years ago when she thought Jared was serious and didn't realize that he was just trying to get her fired up...
Hey Keith,
I could give two craps about a 16 dollar increase in Yankees tickets. First of all, Yanks fans suck, second of all, they dont even need a new ball park, and third of all, a 16 dollar increase would still be 20 dollars less than the cheapest ticket in Fenway. So Yanks fans can cry, just like Joba the hut
Speaking of which, when we are down in NJ starting Aug 9th, any chance you would want to catch a Phillies game? Is that possible? Unlike Fenway, you can actually GET Phillies tickets, right? Plus, Callum needs a Phillie Phanatic thingy
Despite Barack's tax plan, there is still NO WAY I wouldnt still vote for Barack. The rich have had their fun under the CHeney administration. Now its time for the "others" to get a break. Its only fair.
Jared, you can't be serious. Do you honestly think you are going to get a break if Barack gets into office? I can see this vacation is going to be a lot of laughs. I hope Lynne doesn't cry too much.
